Inspired by John Larmer's Blog in Edutopia, titled: Start the Year With a Project...or Wait?, our 5th grade teachers decided to... Start the Year With a Project. Using his suggestions, they introduced one of each of the 4C's through hands on collaborative activities each day. The foundation they built during the second week of school will grow as students embark on a yet to be determined service learning project. This ties into the Bluebonnet Book they are reading: Laugh with the Moon, by Shana Burg Day 1: Critical Thinking Students participated in a teacher-led discussion to increase their awareness of what critical thinking was. Day 2: Divergent Th Critical thinking, collaborating communicating Mission Difficult ( not mission possible) Worm Activity Get the life saver to the worm with a paper clip No hands only paper clip 10 minutes Roles on slide See photos Practicing group skills..
