Last week, new elementary teachers in Eanes ISD attended a Balanced Literacy training. As part of that training, Ed Techs Debbie Smith & Marianna Ricketson shared ways to use Paper 53 during interactive read alouds. You can see an example of Paper 53 sketchnoting (and more details about the training) on Ms. Smith's Eanes Elementary Blog HERE. In addition, Ed Tech Jennifer Flood shared another app last Friday called Thinking Blocks. This suite of apps allows students to explore word problems using addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, and movable digital manipulatives. See the app integration sheet for more info!
Kindergarteners in Ms. Gardner's class have been talking about how to recognize different kinds of weather. The students shared their understandings by using Popplet to create drawings of different kinds of weather, label them, and share their findings with each other. What a great example of multimodal literacy that demonstrates how image and text can work together to inform their readers. Thanks, Kindergarten!
