While students buy new school clothes, ready their backpacks, and shine up those new shoes, teachers are working hard to get ready too! From organizing classrooms to attending trainings, we have been busy organizing for a new year of learning. Our own Morgan Menichini and fellow Eanes colleague Sara Perez led all elementary teachers in a learning session on Number Talks. Our Cardinal educators teach learners at all levels -- we are so lucky!
At convocation our Westlake Students helped us get excited about a new year of learning. Our focus was on the two Fred's...Fred Astaire and my favorite Fred, Mr. Rogers. Both of them remind us of working hard and giving the best one has to give. The district has even sponsored a viewing of the most recent movie about Mr. Rogers, Won't You Be My Neighbor. I so love Mr. Rogers' focus on children, and the way he honored them, their feelings, and their experiences. I met Mr. Rogers as a four-year-old (on a plane from Dallas to Houston) and it was a moment I have never forgotten. His kind, caring, intelligent, and thoughtful work is an act we can all see to follow!
